HONOR FLIGHT san diego (HFSD)

AND

SCHOOL CHARITY RUN

The mission of Honor Flight is to honor America's veterans by flying them to Washington, D.C. to visit & reflect at the memorials dedicated to their service & sacrifices. It serves WWII, Korean War, Vietnam War & terminally ill veterans of any era, providing them with a day of recognition, remembrance & camaraderie. Several of our Chapter 75 Special Forces Members have been invited on these trips & have found them to be quite enlightening & emotional. Some of us continue to contribute to this very worthwhile organization by participating in follow-up events & charity events to fund future trips.

Honor Flight San Diego (HFSD) is a non-profit branch of the nationwide Honor Flight Network. HFSD uses monies donated by individuals, foundations, associations, business owners and corporations who wish to recognize our veterans’ contributions and thank them for their service and sacrifice to the United States and its citizens.

One of the organizations that we participate with to generate funds for this organization is a SD county elementary school, R. Roger Rowe Elementary, who holds a Jog-A-Thon Fundraiser each Spring. With the help of the teachers, the students organize & run the event. Each class has its members run around the track to generate funds. The annual event raises enough money to send 2-3 veterans to D.C. each year.
